- Finish Roman Republic Timeline. Directions: Create a vertical timeline of key events leading to the Roman Republic entitled, “Key Events in the Roman Republic”. As you read through the handout, “The Struggle for Political Power in Ancient Rome”, highlight the five major events that lead to a more democratic republic. The dates for the 5 events occur between 509 BCE and 287 BCE. Plot those events on your vertical timeline. On one side of the timeline, you should have the date and a one sentence summary of the event. On the other side of the timeline, you should draw a visual (IN COLOR) that represents the key event.
