WORLD I FINAL EXAM ON THURS 6/17: Your final exam will be on Thursday, June 17 (9:40 - 11:40am). There will be between 75-100 multiple choice questions. We will review in-class on Fri 6/11, however, you should also study the SOL Packet, the on-line flashcards, and the resources listed on the SOL REVIEW TOOLS page. If you need a hard copy of the SOL Packet or the flashcards, please see me after school.

DIRECTIONS: As you read through the handout, “The Struggle for Political Power in Ancient Rome”, highlight the five major events that lead to a more democratic republic. The dates of the 5 events occur between 509 BCE and 287 BCE. Plot those events on your vertical timeline. On one side of the timeline, write the date along with a one sentence summary of the event. On the other side of the timeline, draw a visual (IN COLOR) that represents the key event. Many of the words we see today can be traced back to Latin origins. - You teach the class! Students are divided into 3 sections: Group 1 teaches about the Geography of the Early Indus Valley, Group 2 teaches about the Geography of Early China, & Group 3 teaches about the Early People of China. Groups 1 & 2 are responsible for presenting an enlarged map of the area and answers to the questions on the worksheet. Group 3 is responsible for presenting a chart about the cultures that existed before the Shang Dynasty (Yangshao, Lungshan, & Xia). Students become “experts” on their subject matter and share their information with the other students in-class. Each student is responsible for completing their own set of notes based on the students’ “lesson”.

Directions: On a blank sheet of paper, title the assignment: Indus Graphic Summary. Section the paper into four boxes. Title the first box “Geography”, the 2nd box “Socio-Cultural”, the 3rd box “Economic”, and the 4th box “Political”. Use your Indus Valley Notes and/or text (pp. 66-68) to support each of the four categories and then present it in visual format.
For Egypt and Mesopotamia follow the same instructions above, but change the title.
