WORLD I FINAL EXAM ON WED 6/16: Your final exam will be on Wednesday, June 16 (7:20 - 9:20am). There will be between 75-100 multiple choice questions. We will review in-class, however, you should also study the SOL Packet, the on-line flashcards, and the resources listed on the SOL REVIEW TOOLS page. If you need a hard copy of the SOL Packet or the flashcards, please see me after school.

LAST CHANCE TO COMPLETE MAKE-UP WORK FOR THE 4TH QTR - TUES 6/8, WED 6/9, and THUR 6/10: I will be available after school from 2:20 - 3:20pm on Tues 6/8, Wed 6/9, and Thurs 6/10 if you need to make up work or do Middle Ages/Renaissance Test Corrections.

  4. In class activity: Exploring the Influence of Latin on Modern English. Many of the words we see today can be traced back to Latin origins. Using the Latin term and definition, find the English equivalent among various landscapes in photographed signs that contain words derived from Latin roots.

  1. Finish Roman Republic Timeline. Directions: Create a vertical timeline of key events leading to the Roman Republic entitled, “Key Events in the Roman Republic”. As you read through the handout, “The Struggle for Political Power in Ancient Rome”, highlight the five major events that lead to a more democratic republic. The dates for the 5 events occur between 509 BCE and 287 BCE. Plot those events on your vertical timeline. On one side of the timeline, you should have the date and a one sentence summary of the event. On the other side of the timeline, you should draw a visual (IN COLOR) that represents the key event.

  2. You teach the class! Students are divided into 3 sections: Group 1 teaches about the Geography of the Early Indus Valley, Group 2 teaches about the Geography of Early China, & Group 3 teaches about the Early People of China. Groups 1 & 2 are responsible for presenting an enlarged map of the area and answers to the questions on the worksheet. Group 3 is responsible for presenting a chart about the cultures that existed before the Shang Dynasty (Yangshao, Lungshan, & Xia). Students become “experts” on their subject matter and share their information with the other students in-class. Each student is responsible for completing their own set of notes based on the students’ “lesson”.
    NOTE: It is to your advantage to take “good” notes and pay attention in class b/c you will be able to use these notes on your upcoming Indus / China River Valleys Quiz.
